People can’t benefit from resources they never find.

At six, I said I wanted to be President, because I liked stepping in when something felt off. I still do. Today I lead a four-person marketing team supporting $5M+ in annual revenue at the Y.

Five-plus years in marketing. At the Y, a team of four markets every revenue stream of a $5M+ nonprofit.

Where the $5M+ comes from

Marketing touches every stream

Earned revenue · $2.5M
Contributed revenue · about half

Programs for kids and families

Camps, childcare, afterschool and family programs. Enrollment campaigns fill them, and half the participants are new every year.

Property rentals

Facility and property rentals, marketed alongside programs as their own earned-revenue stream.

Grants and donations

Government grants and private donors. I support them with donor newsletters, impact reports and add-on giving campaigns.

Story 01 · Leadership

Building a team that feels steady

YMCA of Northern Utah · Marketing team of four · About 80 staff, 100 seasonal · September 2024 to now

In September 2024 I became Marketing and Communications Director at the YMCA of Northern Utah, leading a four-person team across six program lines. We market an organization of about 80 people, 100 in peak season, and everything runs in-house: social media across five channels, content, and the enrollment advertising behind $2.5M in annual earned revenue.

A small team carrying that much work can feel stretched fast. So I onboard people with intention. Each person starts out knowing what good looks like, who to ask, and where they get to make the call. I give direction when a project needs it, and space when the person needs it more.

I care about people doing good work, and I care just as much about how they feel while they do it. People who feel supported and trusted make better calls, and the work shows it.

Story 02 · Digital transformation

3,000 pages became 38, in three weeks

YMCA of Northern Utah · Site audit, content consolidation and platform migration

The Y’s old website ran on a custom HTML builder that needed specialist work for every change. After years of turnover, nobody could keep it under control.

An audit I commissioned found more than 3,000 pages, no UTM tracking, and no way to collect customer data. People can’t benefit from resources they never find.

Before
3,000+
After
38
98.7% fewer pages 11,173 old URLs redirected 3 weeks from start to launch 100% brand compliant
01 · Audit

Commissioned a full site audit that put numbers to the problem: 3,000-plus pages, no UTMs, no cookies, no customer data.

02 · Make the case

Spent two years building the case for capital funding. The new site ended up included at no extra cost when we moved to a nonprofit CRM platform.

03 · Content and brand

Wrote and organized the content for all 38 pages and held every one to YMCA brand standards. Compliance has to be 100%, because the Y’s accreditation depends on it.

04 · Launch

Went live in three weeks, with 11,173 old URLs redirected so every existing link still lands somewhere useful.

93,000 website sessions a year, up 42%, and returning visitors up 587% over two years.

How a campaign comes together

Half of our program participants are new every year, so enrollment has to be won again each season. Every campaign I run follows the same path.

01

Concept

Start with the campaign idea and who it’s for, before a single ad gets made.

02

Ad sets and assets

Build the ad sets and every asset in-house, sized for each channel.

03

Launch everywhere

  • Email + SMS (Mailchimp)
  • Organic + boosted social
  • ChatGPT ads
  • Google + display ads
  • Partner cross-promotion
04

Measure

Track click-through and conversion rates on every channel with YoY comparison and targeted outcome goals.

Attribution runs through GA4, GSC, Salesforce and Power BI dashboards.

What I do

Team leadership

Hiring, onboarding and running a marketing team that works well under pressure with 100% brand compliance.

Growth and paid media

Enrollment advertising on Meta, Google and ChatGPT. I build the ad sets and every asset in-house, and manage a $175K annual budget.

Donor communications

Donor newsletters and impact reports, email and text campaigns, add-on giving, and support for government grant and donor campaigns.

Social, web and commerce

Five social channels including LinkedIn, the website, a Shopify camp store, and a TikTok Shop on the way.

Experience

Technical environments, academic settings, and now nonprofit leadership. Different angles on the same question: what do people need?
